Away Meets

The adventure goes further.

Discover new landscapes and mountain areas with MCNW members.

The adventure doesn't stop at North Wales

North Wales may be our home, but our members’ adventures don’t stop at the Welsh border.

Throughout the year, members organise trips and weekends away to explore mountains, crags and walking areas across the UK and further afield.

Away meets are a great opportunity to discover somewhere new, spend a few days with fellow members and enjoy a different mountain environment.

Around the UK

Over the years, MCNW members have travelled to many of the UK’s finest mountain areas.

Away trips might take us to:

  • The Lake District
  • The Peak District
  • The Yorkshire Dales
  • The Scottish Highlands
  • The Cairngorms
  • The Brecon Beacons and South Wales
  • Dartmoor and the South West
  • Other areas suggested by members

The destination and activities vary from trip to trip.

Further afield

For those looking for a bigger adventure, members also arrange trips overseas.

These might involve walking and trekking in mountain ranges elsewhere in Europe or longer expeditions further afield.

There’s no requirement to take part in every trip — away meets are simply another opportunity to enjoy the mountains with other club members.

A great way to get to know the club

Away meets are often as much about the social side as the mountains.

Spending a weekend together gives you the chance to get to know other members, share experiences and perhaps discover a new part of the country.

And because MCNW members come from across Wales and the UK, away meets can sometimes be a convenient way for members who live further away from North Wales to get involved.

Come and join us. The mountains are waiting.
