Mountain Adventures

Adventure comes in many forms.

More ways to get outdoors, learn new skills and explore together.

There's more to mountain life

Mountaineering isn’t just about climbing the highest mountain or walking the longest route.

Our members have a wide range of interests, and the club provides an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in many different ways.

Depending on the season, the weather and who’s keen to get involved, MCNW members take part in a variety of activities both in North Wales and further afield.

Mountain & Outdoor Activities

These can include:

  • Navigation and mountain skills
  • Scrambling
  • Rock climbing
  • Long-distance walking
  • Trail walking
  • Winter mountaineering
  • Camping and wild camping
  • Outdoor photography

The list isn’t fixed — if it’s outdoors and adventurous, there’s a good chance someone in the club will be interested!

Winter in the mountains

North Wales takes on a completely different character in winter.

Snow, ice and shorter days bring additional challenges and opportunities for those with the appropriate skills and experience. Some of our members enjoy winter walking, scrambling and mountaineering when conditions allow.

Winter activities require appropriate equipment, experience and preparation. Club activities are not guided or instructed, and members are responsible for ensuring that they have the skills and equipment appropriate to the conditions.

Our Hut is available all year round for members to use.

Beyond North Wales

Although the club is based in North Wales, our activities certainly aren’t confined to it.

Members organise trips throughout the UK and overseas, and the club’s social side often provides the opportunity to discover new places and activities with like-minded people.

What would you like to try?

One of the advantages of belonging to a small club is that there’s plenty of scope to suggest something different.

You might discover a new activity through another member, or find someone who’s keen to join you on an adventure you’ve been planning.

Come along and see what MCNW is all about.

Come and join us. The mountains are waiting.
