Explore the mountains with MCNW

Walking is at the heart of what we do at the Mountaineering Club of North Wales.

North Wales offers an incredible variety of walking, from straightforward hill days and scenic valley walks to challenging mountain routes and long-distance adventures. Our members enjoy all of it, and our regular meets provide plenty of opportunities to get out into the hills together.

We regularly explore the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia), including the Carneddau, Glyderau and Moelwynion, as well as the wider North Wales area. Members also organise walks further afield, from the Brecon Beacons and Lake District to Scotland and beyond.

Something for everyone

Our members have a wide range of experience and interests. Some enjoy relaxed days in the hills, while others are happiest tackling long and demanding mountain routes.

A typical day might involve:

  • Mountain and hill walking
  • Longer-distance routes
  • Ridge walks
  • Valley and low-level walks
  • Winter walking
  • Navigation and mountain skills
  • Exploring new areas of the UK

You don’t have to be an experienced mountaineer to enjoy being part of the club. What matters most is having an enthusiasm for the outdoors and a willingness to get out and explore.

Walk together, learn together

One of the great things about being in a club is being able to walk with people who have different experiences and interests.

Newer members can learn from those with more experience, while experienced walkers can discover new routes and areas through other members.

And, of course, a day in the mountains is usually better when there’s good company at the end of it.

Come and join us

Our regular meets are a great way to meet other members and experience the club for yourself.

Come and join us. The mountains are waiting.
